Kolkata - Terraces and beyond : Terraces have always fascinated me. From exchanging gossips to plain peeping into the neighboring houses - the terrace ('chaad' in Bengali) has a special designation in my list of nostalgias. I am fascinated by the idea of being able to zoom in and zoom out of my subject at my own ease - tracking people, incidents, the innumerable wires and cables trailing into the various houses, the mossy dampness on the terrace walls giving birth to textures and colors that I trace out on my canvases with so much of difficulty.

Kolkata - Soul Konnection : Kolkata is my city, my home. It stirs up my emotions, it stirs up my soul. The city at dusk through the heavy dark thunder clouds, the incessant noise from the crowded streets, the familiar faces, the multiple options of local savouries, the hurting riot of colours - all these rejuvenate me. This gallery can only be felt by someone who has experienced the city's chaos. And I do hope that someone who hasn't had that prior experience can actually feel the same by viewing this gallery. Kolkata - Touching the bricks of history : There are many old houses and structures in Kolkata which emanates decades of colonisation and the past glory of the city. This album captures only a few of them which bear a special significance to me. The Magistrate's House in Alipore where I have spent a few years of my glorious childhood; the Howrah Station which was our first port of call before we got onto the trains which would transport us to long-distance vacations; the Howrah Bridge which is the other face of Kolkata to its residents and non-residents; the old beautiful house of the film director Shakti Samanta which houses the primary school that my mother teaches in - I grew up visiting her very frequently.

Kolkata - Through grilled verandahs & windows : The outside - Incessant rains followed by unrepentant blue skies; the jostling for space in the shelter of the bus stop; the human and traffic trails from the terraces and the verandahs, the evening sky peeping from behind the houses mighty and tall... all captured through the confines of the grilled windows and the verandahs, with the background music provided by the rhythm of the rains. The Inside - Monotony of long hours confined in the indoors are shattered as I click my camera through everything - the real cooking in the real kitchen to the pretend cooking of my girls' toy cooking sets; the countless plastic containers on the dining table - all containing various delicious local savories; the hangings on the walls, the piles of books on the wooden shelves, perhaps reflecting the high & mighty Bong intellect and much more...

Dubai & the UAE - Deep Sea Fishing : GPS Position: N 25º10.547', E 55º 03.587'. Where? In the blue expanse of the Persian Gulf - 20kms away from the Dubai Coastline. Deep Sea Fishing on a 33 ft yacht. The team - 8 members. Fish caught - 8. Win-win situation only because of the experience of anchoring mid-sea and waiting for a good catch!
